About Us

Built on Generations of Trust

Rapids Repair has proudly served the community since 1961. The shop first opened under the ownership of Glen Hinkemeyer, who built a strong reputation for honest, dependable automotive service. In 1998, his son Jeff purchased the business and continued that tradition of integrity and quality workmanship. In October 2024, new ownership carried the legacy forward, ensuring that the values the shop was built on remain firmly in place. Today, Rapids Repair operates two locations, D&P’s and Glen’s, both rooted in the same commitment to family, professionalism, and long-term customer relationships.

The Best of Both Worlds

What truly sets Rapids Repair apart is the balance between family-owned warmth and dealership-level expertise. Customers feel at home the moment they walk through the doors at D&P’s or Glen’s. At the same time, unlike many independent repair shops, much of the team comes from factory and dealership training backgrounds. That means clients receive high-level technical knowledge paired with genuine, small-town customer care. It’s a combination that delivers confidence, accuracy, and a level of personal service that keeps drivers coming back year after year.

A Dealership Background with a Family Vision

The current ownership brings decades of automotive experience to Rapids Repair. Since entering the automotive industry in 2001, leadership has worked in nearly every dealership role, from sales to service management, eventually serving as a general manager for a large metro-area group. During that time, a partnership formed with Cody, a Master Technician with Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and Ram who dedicated 11 years to dealership-level service. Both shared a vision: if the opportunity ever came to own a shop, they would build one that combined the family feel of a locally owned business with the knowledge and discipline of the dealership world. When the chance arrived in 2024, they took it.

Skilled Technicians Who Feel Like Family

The team at Rapids Repair reflects that same philosophy. Many technicians are tech school graduates who gained valuable experience in dealership environments before joining D&P’s and Glen’s. Their specialties span Ford, GM, Mopar, European brands, and Asian imports, giving the shop broad capabilities across makes and models. While their training is extensive, the common thread among the team is simple: they are family-oriented people who value relationships. That shared mindset creates an atmosphere where customers feel respected, heard, and genuinely cared for.

Family First, Always

Family plays a central role in the story of Rapids Repair. Married for 23 years with three adult children, ownership understands the importance of balance. One of those children now works alongside the team as a service advisor at D&P’s, strengthening the multi-generational foundation of the business. After years in the demanding dealership world, owning Rapids Repair has restored the freedom to focus on what matters most. Time with family, enjoying the outdoors, and working with hands—especially woodworking—are priorities that shape the culture of the shop. At its core, Rapids Repair exists not just to fix vehicles, but to build lasting relationships rooted in trust, expertise, and family values.
